U.S. Army Cpl. Raphael Arruda, 21, died Saturday in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, when a roadside bomb hit the mine-protected vehicle he was in. Arruda died of blunt force trauma just a week shy of his 22nd birthday. Arruda planned to study construction engineering in college and was saving money to build a summer home in his native Brazil.
