Spec. Ty John Johnson died April 4, 2006 shortly after his 28th birthday. His death was the result of an IED explosion while serving his country in Iraq.

Johnson, Elk Grove, CA; his twin brother, Blake Lee; sister, Brook A. Barnes, both of Sacramento, CA; grandparents, in-laws, nieces, cousins, aunts, uncles and many lifelong friends. Ty was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ray S. Lester; uncle, Ricky Carl Johnson; and beloved niece, Madyson Lisa Hansen.
All those who knew and loved Ty will miss him greatly. Ty (Tybonius) had a love of life - always making light of the dangers he faced while in the service of his country. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, enjoyed video games and especially loved computers. Ty felt honored to serve his country and family while in Iraq and felt he was "making history" there; he frequently spoke of the gratefulness of the Iraqi people to be able to enjoy the freedom guaranteed to the people at home. He offered the greatest sacrifice to those he loved-laying down his life so that everyone he cared for would be able to continue to enjoy the life he cherished so much.
Funeral services for Spec. Ty Johnson will be held in the Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, Midvale, Utah at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Friends may visit with family members one hour prior to service. Interment will be at the Midvale City Cemetery, 450 West 7500 South, immediately following the service. The family wishes to express their thanks for all those who have showed their support during this difficult time. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
