A Kaysville native has been killed in Baghdad, the Department of Defense said Wednesday. Capt. Nathan S. Dalley, 27, died from a "nonhostile gunshot wound" on Nov. 17, the Pentagon said.

Dalley was assigned to the 2nd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, based in Baumholder, Germany. No further information was immediately available from the Pentagon.

Republican U.S. Rep. Rob Bishop, whose 3rd Congressional District includes Kaysville, issued a statement of condolence.

"He was involved in a noble cause, and his ultimate sacrifice should renew in each of us our commitment to the freedom and liberty for which he was fighting," Bishop said.
