  • What is Utah OnLine?
Utah OnLine is an umbrella name given to The Salt Lake Tribune's Web edition and an assortment of related online services. Utah Online aims to reach out to Tribune readers who are new to the Web by offering a complete, appealing and Web-oriented supplement to the printed product.
Our Web pages include up-to-the-minute, fun access to news and other Utah-related information, entertainment, outdoor recreation, stocks, classifieds, chat and personals, traffic, weather, and much more.

When is the online Tribune updated?
Utah OnLine has the new edition online by 5 a.m. Mountain Time daily. Typically, it is online between 2 and 3 a.m. Film Finder is updated as new films premiere (typically Fridays, sometimes Wednesdays and holidays).

Why am I getting an old edition online? Why isn't the page updated with the current day's paper?
As stated above, Utah OnLine is updated daily by 5 a.m. Mountain Time (usually between 2 and 3 a.m. Mountain Time) with the current day's edition WITHOUT FAIL. If you are seeing an old edition, it is due to your bookmark. Your bookmark may have been created before our redesign and will not work correctly. To fix simply change your bookmark to read: www.sltrib.com.

    Do you offer comics online?
No. We don't have permission from the syndicates to reprint the actual strips online, however the syndicate sites do publish them on the Web. Visit any search engine (yahoo.com, google.com) and search for the name of the comic you are looking for, or the term "comic strips" to produce a list of links.

    Do you offer Internet-access services?
No. We are not currently offering Internet access set-ups through third-party companies.

Why didn't the "email this article" function work?
Both the recipient's email and sender's email fields are required for the "email this article" function to work.

The error message: "The recipient's email address is not a valid address," will appear when either nothing has been entered in the To (email address) field or if the email address entered is not valid.

The error message: "The sender's (your) email address is not a valid address," will appear when either nothing has been entered in the Your email address field or if the email address entered is not valid.

Neither the your name field nor the Brief message field are required for the "mail this article" function to work.

If you have entered the recipient's email address and your email address correctly and you still receive an error, please contact us at webmaster@sltrib.com and include the error message you received when trying to use the "email an article" function.

How can I make the type larger on your pages?
If you don't like the default font size, there is a magnifying glass on the each story page in the top right corner. Click it to load a larger font size for the body copy. The setting is saved to your computer, so the font sizes for the site will all change unless you click the magnifying glass again to set it back to the default size.

How much of The Salt Lake Tribune is online?
It is not our goal to replicate the print edition online; the best way to ensure you are getting everything in the hardcopy edition of the Tribune is to subscribe for home delivery. Rather, we repackage and expand on select portions of our local newspaper content as a free service to Internet users and as supplement to the experience of print subscribers.
Display advertising and certain graphical and syndicated elements are not reproducible in online form.
If you notice a story missing from the Web edition, check our various search functions, described below. If the feature you're seeking still doesn't turn up, please e-mail us at webmaster@sltrib.com with a date and description.

Where do I find a story that ran last week/last month/last year?
The past seven editions of The Tribune are available online in their entirety. Click the "Contents" or "Past Editions" buttons on the front page to access them. You can also do a search on the past seven editions by using the "Search" form at the top of any page.
Older stories are available through the TribAccess Archives. Click the "Archives" button on any page to access the archives. Our online records go back to September 1990. (For older stories, please consult the public library or call our Data Center at 801-257-8930). For general archive questions, e-mail archive@sltrib.com.

Where are your (local, sports, technology, business) stories?
The task bar at the top of the home page will guide you through each section of today's Tribune. You will also find a comprehensive contents section linked from the Web edition.

    Where do I find obituaries?
Click on the Obituaries button on any page. Obituaries back to mid 1990 can be found in the TribAccess Archives. Search by first and last name and the word "obituaries" for the best results. Obituaries older than that can be accessed at most Salt Lake area public libraries.

How can I subscribe to the Tribune print edition?
For subscription information, call the circulation department at 801-237-2900 or click here to subscribe online.

How do I submit a classified ad?
The classifieds are handled by the independent advertising company, Newspaper Agency Corporation. For information on placing an ad, call 801-237-2000. To place an ad online, click here.

Can I use or link to a story/picture I saw online?
All information on our Web edition is copyrightThe Salt Lake Tribune and associated news services. No material may be reproduced or reused without explicit permission from The Salt Lake Tribune. To obtain permission, send e-mail to webmaster@sltrib.com.
While The Tribune discourages reproduction of any of its stories on other Web sites, we encourage webmasters to link to the stories they're interested in on our server. We purposefully attempt to keep materials online for at least a year, with this in mind. Please contact us at the above e-mail address for permission and archival URLs.

Can I purchase a print of a picture I have seen in print or online?
To purchase a copy of a Tribune Photo you see in the paper or online please contact our Data Resource Center by writing The Salt Lake Tribune, 90 S. 400 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84101. Include a check or money order and your return address and phone number. An 8-by-10 glossy print can be obtained for $15 or a 12-by-16 poster-size for $40. Indicate the date of publication, the page number and a description of the photo.

Where can I find the crossword puzzle?
The crossword puzzle can be found here. You will also find a link on the home page. The crossword online is provided by a different service that than in the print edition, so it will not be the same puzzle.

Where can I find games, crossword puzzles and horoscopes?
Due to syndication fees and copyright prohibitions, we do not have permission to reprint the puzzles, games and horoscopes from the print edition in the online edition at this time.
An online, interactive crossword puzzle is provided by UClick. Click the crossword button on the home page.

Are Parade magazine, Automotive or Real Estate online?
Parade magazine, Automotive and Real Estate sections are produced by entities other than The Tribune and do not appear on Utah OnLine. The Automotive and Real Estates sections are available on the Classifieds page (click the "Classifieds" button on the home page to get there) under the Automotive and Real Estate listings, respectively. Parade maintains its own Web site at http://www.parade.com

Where can I send a story idea?
Address story ideas to the appropriate section editor via e-mail. Click the "Contact Us" button on the home page, or call the newsroom at 801-257-8742.

Where can I send a letter to the editor?
Letters to the Editor are accepted via e-mail at letters@sltrib.com. Click here for guidelines, mailing address and fax number.
